Indigenous People of Piscataqua Watershed: A Dover400 lecture
Date Created:
This online presentation is the first session in the Dover400 2021 lecture series, and pays tribute to the Native people who occupied our region prior to colonization by white settlers. Dover resident and Native American Kathleen Blake introduces the series with a Land Acknowledgement, a formal statement that recognizes Indigenous Peoples as traditional stewards of this land and respects the enduring relationship that exists between Indigenous Peoples and their traditional territories. David Miller then shares his extensive research of the Wabanaki/Abenaki lifeways. Miller explores what he calls the “Great Bay Paradise” that existed in up to 20 Native villages bordering the rivers of our region.
