Local and state officials, including New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu, were on hand for a relighting ceremony at the Scammell Bridge on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017. The New Hampshire Department of Transportation shut off the bridge lights in 2012 as a cost-savings measure. Dover's Affinity LED Lighting offered to pay for the retrofitting of the lights from sodium lamps to LED lights. The Dover firm also offered to cover the cost of the electricity for a period of time. It's estimated the lights will cost about $2,000 a year to power, a savings of about $5,000 compared to the old lights.
